Epoch Malibu
The commission
A private Malibu vacation home created for a celebrated film director, conceived in the Arts and Crafts spirit — lived-in, handmade, old-world, and close to nature. The interior is wrapped in hickory, warm and grained, set against hand-patinated and hammered copper countertops finished by hand to hold their depth and patina over time. A mosaic-tiled bath grounds the wet space in pattern and texture.
At its center is a live-edge dining table, worked from a single four-foot section of timber and shaped to keep the raw line of the wood. Every material was chosen for its honesty and its capacity to age into something richer. Epoch takes its name from the passage of time — a space made slowly, with deep respect for the craft and the hands that brought it together.
